Louie Douglas: “Rose Colored Glasses” Ft. Steele (Prod. By ThatKidGoran)
Texas based Artist and Musician originally out of the small town of Battle Mountain, Nevada. Louie Douglas began rapping and recording while pursuing a bachelors and minor at UNLV for Art. The self-taught DIY artist, who considers himself an outsider, started making and recording music from his apartment and has been grinding ever since in the same fashion. His songs are catchy, the beats are hot and Louie gives a vocal performance that redefines the term rapper. He has a sing song style with plenty of melody and conscious, empowering themes.
Not least one of his latest tracks “Rose Colored Glasses” Ft. Steele (Prod. By ThatKidGoran), in which sees the world as a much better place than it is, because he can simply identify the changes needed to reach that goal. It’s an uplifting and inspiring track.
Louie Douglas sings and pours out his very candid feelings about the world’s current state of being, and it’s not a great sight, maybe he should lend those rose colored glasses to our political leaders the decision makers of the world. Either way, once you have this track play-listed, the rules are simple: no skipping, no fast-forwarding, no rewinding and no stopping.
This song will receive your gut reaction from start to finish. Okay, so why not rewind, you’re saying? Simple. Louie has clear diction, and focused, comprehensible rhymes. You catch everything the first time around. There’s no mumbling included in this package here.
With this song, co-written alongside Regan Wheeler, Louie Douglas proves that he has a large amount of storytelling skills, over an amazing organically sounding beat produced by ThatKidGoran. In terms of flow and literary devices, Louie’s skill comes to the fore here.
A lesser rapper would struggle making this as interesting and as coherent, but Louie somehow excels. “Rose Colored Glasses” Ft. Steele (Prod. By ThatKidGoran) is a poignant statement; which shows there still are so many relatable issues to deal with in the world, and with which to connect to a fan-base, other than the usual money, drugs and sex things.
For many, Louie Douglas’ brand of smart, melodic rap is the most potent of any music in the genre. Anything this deep, conscious and uplifting that can inspire hope will rightfully be treated as a great piece of art. “Rose Colored Glasses” Ft. Steele (Prod. By ThatKidGoran) is everything we should love about the genre.
Louie paints a picture with his words while starting out as quiet as a whisper, and by the end of the verse he is singing as each line before has gotten more intense, which really works extremely well. The music is just so simple and smooth, as it lets Louie Douglas’ lyrics take over, and get its message across, which is the essence of real rap of course.
At least that’s what the genre’s forefathers intended almost 30 years ago…until a bunch of pseudo rappers came along in the new millennium and shouted: “Now what about the beats!”
Louie Douglas is on radio rotation with the tracks “Rose Colored Glasses” Ft. Steele (Prod. By ThatKidGoran)” and “Own Self (Produced by Ocean Beats)”
