Kenneth Kane: “Light & Shadow” – an uplifting yet atmospheric trance track

Can someone please explain how it is possible for people to not love trance music? Trance is one of my favorite types of electronic music because it is the most transporting to me. Trance is able to break down tracks into deep emotional meditations that just take you away into another world. When it comes to ecstasy and hypnotic rhythms, there is no other genre like trance. It is clear from the name that trance tracks are meant to take you into a state of trance. You forget about your surroundings and get lost in a sea of unconsciousness. Music has a distinct ability to take people away from their problems and relieve anxiety and stress, and put them in a good place, mentally and emotionally. Possibly on the dance floor. This is the feeling some of the most important EDM producers are trying to enhance with their musical concepts. This intensified experience of sounds, sensations and rhythms is a certified level of entertainment.

Kenneth Kane going bout business

Emerging DJ, producer, and online entrepreneur, Kenneth Kane, forms part of this process. Working with Ableton Live 9, Kane draws inspiration from artists like Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix and Avicii, as well as legendries like Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis.

On his single “Light & Shadow”, Kenneth Kane showcases how his style of electronic music delves deep into emotion. The track is a tribute to his late father and blends reality with the metaphysical, in a realm where everything is possible, including meeting up with your deceased loved ones.

We all perceive things presented to us by what we have already experienced. I think in a lot of ways that clouds our judgement of things before we’ve even given them a chance. I can sit here and tell you what I think a certain movie is going to be like before I’ve seen it because of who the director is or who the lead actor is.

I can sit here and tell you I already know what a dance track will sound like just because of the artist or producer’s name. I can also tell you that often my assumptions can be wrong because I’ve pigeon holed those involved. However the biggest surprises – both negative and positive – comes when we have never heard the artist or producer in question.

Kenneth Kane honing his craft

To be honest, we all judge a book by its cover, whatever that cover may be. And I shamefully judged Kenneth Kane to be just another typical retro trance producer who was releasing his latest clichéd solo effort. Wrong! Kane presents an electronic artist who is looking to the future, not living in the past.

“Light & Shadow” is an uplifting yet atmospheric trance track which has a much more mature sound and a few spoken words that are used sparsely yet effectively. It’s a celebration of trance, life, even beyond life, and unity. Full of emotion from start to finish, this is very much the sound of a producer at the top of his game.

“Light & Shadow” has a very progressive trance feel but the driving bass gives it a solid focus that would suit either a trance or tough progressive set. Even though trance is no longer the genre that represents electronic music to the masses, Kenneth Kane still manages to produce a relevant track for the electronic genre.

In a world of streaming and instant access to content, Kane will be able to convince people to listen to trance, and his music in particular, because of the hard work he puts into his craft. “Light & Shadow” is a testament to his devotion to trance. And thank heavens for that, I can listen to trance again!
