International singer, songwriter, actor and model, Andy Magro, is an artist with a fierce determination to make a positive difference in this world. Andy Magro got his start in the world of acting when at 13 years old he established his own drama/film class at his school. Since then, he has spread his wings to encompass many aspects of the entertainment industry. His first break arrived when acclaimed movie director David Cronenberg hired him for a supporting role in the feature film ‘A Dangerous Method’, starring Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender. Based in Europe he has appeared in numerous German feature films, TV shows and series, short films, commercials and print ads. He is also an affirmed model who has fronted many important brands.
- Tunedloud: When and why did you start singing?
Andy Magro: In fact I started acting since I was 12 years young. In March 2014 I got the idea of giving back by starting my own charity organization with the name “United for Charity”. And then I told to myself: “Why not making songs for benefitting some social causes. And so I did by releasing my first EP called “Never Stop Dreaming” on my birthday in December 2014. Making songs for a great and important cause gave so much inspiration to go ahead and write more songs.
- Tunedloud: What made you realize that music was your path?
Andy Magro: I love to sing. Whenever I have the chance to sing I sing. Under the shower, in the car, with friends, at work, when studying, etc. I´m always in a happy mood when I sing. Music is not only a melody like James Blunt says. It lets you be a harmony every time you sing! If you are sad, music helps you to get over it. It gives you power to make whatever you want.
- Tunedloud: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Andy Magro: My music is inspirational, motivational and friendly with some ingredients like friendship, passion and so much love and hate in a great balance for a very big fan base as I make music in English, Italian, Spanish and German language.
- Tunedloud: Who are your biggest musical influences?
Andy Magro: Lots of Italian singers are my biggest point of start like Emma Marrone, J-AX, Fedez, Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro, Giusy Ferreri, Nek and way more continuing with artists like James Blunt, Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Riki, Coldplay, Beyonce and so much more. I try to pick some portions of every artist trying to create some explosive kind of amazing songs.
- Tunedloud: What makes your music unique?
Andy Magro: The fact that I write my songs by myself in many different languages and being as unique as possible. I prefer to perform my own songs as taking the easier and faster way to sing already known songs and to cover them. I like to scale new heights by reaching the peak of a mountain.
- Tunedloud: Has there been one particular moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
Andy Magro: Yes, there are many moments but just to name a few: Winning my first music award for “Best Pop/Rock EP” and having reached 2 times a #1 hit on 2 different radio stations with my song “Per Sempre” on the charts. And of course creating music for charity is already a victory for me.
- Tunedloud: What’s next for you?
Andy Magro: Of course finding a new theatrical and commercial film and tv agency in Germany, the UK and/or the US as soon as possible. Then I am currently writing on my next songs which will be in German, Italian, Spanish and English. 4 songs for 4 languages. Shooting some commercials and films. Collaborating with brands in a more intensive and regular way is one of my big projects this year.
- Tunedloud: What kind of things inspire you to write?
Andy Magro: Usual situations of every day. Reactions of people, places visited, moments of every kind, emotions, feelings, current mood, spontaneous ideas, the weather and of course love! If you love, you live!
- Tunedloud: Professional songwriters spend years on their craft. Why not use their songs?
Andy Magro: Because if you sing what you wrote is magical as you can express all your emotions and feelings you really feel and you know yourself better than anyone else so let your emtions guide you to live your song in full. Be who you want to be and when writing your own songs, this gets possible.
- Tunedloud: What is better about a song sung by the writer?
Andy Magro: Like I said it is about expressing yourself in a real way and let me ask you a question: Do you like to drive an Aston Martin DBS by yourself when buying it or would you prefer that someone else drives your car? 😉
- Tunedloud: Are you more of a singer or more of a song-writer?
Andy Magro: I am a singer/songwriter. OK, maybe more songwriter and less singer or more singer and less songwriter.. Haha 😊
- Tunedloud: What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you while working on a song?
Andy Magro: To writing a song, recording it and then rewriting and rerecording it in a completely different way as I didn´t like the first version.
- Tunedloud: Which song you have written is your favorite and why?
Andy Magro: As I wrote all four songs at the same time, I must admit that all four together create my favorite song as every song connects one simple message: That you should never turn back as you can´t change your past! That love is Per Sempre (forever)! That You should never let go someone you really love and try to get her back with spreading much love and that you should never let go on something you really care! And that You and Me connects you with something you really love like a person, your dog, your game console, your hobbies, your car, etc.
- Tunedloud: When do your ideas come to you?
Andy Magro: All the time. Whenever I have a word or a sentence or an emotion, I will write that down on my phone or in a piece of paper. When travelling, on vacation, during shopping, when walking with my dog, in the city or even while watching a game of my favorite soccer club Juventus Football club.
- Tunedloud: Why did you decide to become a songwriter?
Andy Magro: Because it is just a wonderful feeling after you created a story which will become alive after singing it in only 3 to 4 minutes. I have the possibility to inspire people and give them a joy when listening to my songs. It is an unbelievable moment when hearing fans singing your song and your written lyrics. Only after these moments a song becomes alive.
- Tunedloud: What’s your favorite genre of music and why?
Andy Magro: I love Pop, Rock, Reggaeton, RnB/Soul, Latin/Spanish and Italian songs. Currently my favorite Italian song I “Mi Parli Piano by Emma Marrone”, my favorite English song is “In My Blood by Shawn Mendes” and my favorite Spanish song is “Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber”. And I am in love with the voice of Beyonce as she is such a goddess of music.
- Tunedloud: Do you follow a formula when you write?
Andy Magro: No, I just follow my heart and my intuition and instinct. When I have a beat, then I start writing the lyrics to it while trying to sing it. This procedure takes a while and can sometimes take even months until I am satisfied with everything (beat, melody, instrumentals, lyrics, vocals, etc.
- Tunedloud: Would you like to sing a feature with another artist?
Andy Magro: That would be my biggest dream. Working together on my song with another artist has been one of my biggest dreams since starting to sing. It would be even nice to hear my songs in a remix.
- Tunedloud: What advice would you give to aspiring singers?
Andy Magro: If you really want something then the only advice I can give you is that you should “NEVER STOP DREAMING” !!! Get your dream and live it.
- Tunedloud: Thank you so much for your time by answering our questions. And now the last question regarding your polyglotted skill. How many languages do you speak?
Andy Magro: I speak four languages fluently like Italian, German, English and Spanish. But I am learning some more languages since a while now like Arabic, Chinese Mandarin and Swedish. It´s my pleasure and thank you for giving me this chance. Thank you again and love you all! I really wanted to say a big thank you to all my loyal fans, partners, brands, collaborators, to my agency, my producer, my label, all the radio stations and productions I worked and still working with together. You are such amazing and it means a lot to me. Thank you for your big love! Yours Andy.
