Matrixx of Domination: “One Shot” (Rocked) – a gritty but lush soundscape

Comprised of sisters Crys and Chie, Matrixx of Domination have a musical background that spans 15 years, reaching styles as far afield as classical, jazz, hip hop, R&B and rock. The sisters have just released their brand new alternative rock single “One Shot” (Rocked) infused with traces of hip-hop.

Matrixx-of-Domination-350bMatrixx of Domination has proven that they truly are talented musicians who understand their craft, understand themselves, who know that there is no room for ego where art is concerned – that good art, good music must speak for itself. “One Shot” (Rocked) isn’t just a sound. Its anger, love, pain and redemption immortalized in one great song. I was impressed.

The track expresses emotional quality. It’s deep and raw. It’s distinct, unique and such a relief after all of the cookie cutter bands who have been played on the radio over the past five years. Matrixx of Domination really put out a solid, in your face, hard edged bit of work on this.

In a world of bland crap that has lyrics that was made for the soulless and the uneducated, Crys and Chie bring some substance to the table, and they do so with charisma, taste and talent. To top it all, the track is also well-produced, with a gritty but lush soundscape. When you look at the waveforms for this track, it is considerably less compressed and more dynamic than 99% of the singles released today.

Matrixx-of-Domination-350This female duo sound like a cohesive whole, with the energy of each of the sisters playing off one another and their passion for their craft comes shining right through the track.  The sung vocals sound every bit as good and convincing as the rapped verses do, confirming that there are no boundaries or borders to cross within this music.

Everything just melds into one song, bar after bar. Genre and style becomes almost insignificant within the Matrixx of Domination context. Their music gives me the impression that the duo enjoys what they do and that they don’t try too hard to cater to any particular sound, they just do what feels right to them.

Sticking to their guns, they however also employ a sharp pop sensibility in “One Shot” (Rocked), as it has a strong distinct flavor that will tantalize all ears, not just the alternative rock ones. Matrixx of Domination is two rock chicks with mesmerizing personas and paralyzing voices, balancing perfectly between inner fragility and vitriolic anger. They simply soar!
