Ashley J: “Trapped” will never leave your head!

Pop songwriter and singer Ashley J recently launched her latest single artist “Trapped” via her production imprint, Bombshell Music, Inc. The song was written by Ashley J, who teamed up with legendary songwriter, producer and multi-platinum Grammy and Emmy winning, Narada Michael Walden. Walden who has produced a slew of hit records and worked with vocal superstars like Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, the late Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Natalie Cole among others, said of the songstress: Ashley J is a real American sweetheart with a big voice and lots of energy!  She has soul and her beautiful smile lights up the room,” he noted.

In 2015 Ashley J debuted with her solo single “One and One” which reached Billboard’s Top 20 Dance Charts.  She followed that up with another dance record, “Cali” (Ralphi Rosario Remix) which debuted #1 on Billboard’s Breakout Chart the first week of release. Last year, Ashley J made her entry into the pop scene with her romantically charged single, “Dare Ya” which peaked at #3 on the Official European Independent Music Charts.

Since her debut single, the Orlando starlet has grown exceptionally, both personally and musically. The music arena is where she wants to be. She is wise beyond her years when it comes to songwriting, and the creative growth she encompasses is evident on her latest release “Trapped”.

Everything happens for a reason, and the track perfectly portrays that it is purposefully meant to be a major success considering the talented hands on deck. It’s an upbeat, soulful track with an infectious dance groove that will brighten anyone’s day, especially if you’ve been, or are, in a hypnotic and captivating relationship which you have no control over.

Ashley J spells out her passion predicament loud and clear – “I’m trapped, trapped / Mesmerized by your effect on me / I’m trapped, trapped / Lost in the trance you’ve put on me”.  With a larger than life chorus “Trapped” will never leave your head once you start listening. The song extends to the more confident side of Ashley J with sultrier vocals and of course, an impassioned delivery.

The lush instrumental variation of dark synths, bustling horn-like punctuations and busy banging percussion and the catchiness of typical radio single conventions, compliments Ashley J’s surprisingly seasoned voice, which can straddle range with ease.

“Trapped” doesn’t sound like a girl wildly throwing her journal entries into a blender and hitting record. It’s a well thought out song by a young woman who has mastered expressing vulnerability and celebrating emotions without sounding too predictable or high-strung.
