The Rise of Ashlie Amber, Country Vogue and ‘Those Nights’

Ashlie Amber triumphed over the confines of tradition with her February 26 single “Those Nights,” gracefully going against the grain and artfully challenging assumptions about what it means to be a country artist. Catapulting into the limelight as a ‘Country Vogue’ pioneer, Ashlie Amber’s empire continues to grow with the release of the “Those Nights” music video— premiering through CMT.com on Friday, March 26.

Since Forbes officially announced the arrival of “Those Nights,” Ashlie Amber has been spotlighted by the likes of Sounds Like Nashville and Taste of Country, with American Songwriter exclusively premiering the single.

“I wrote 14 songs in 14 days,” Amber revealed about the song’s conception to American Songwriter. “What happened was, I’d recently had a meeting with a label executive and he said I wasn’t ‘authentic’ enough. That was his comment. I have no idea what that means, but I said to myself, ‘okay cool, I’ll show him authentic.’ So, I came back home and I decided to write.”

From criticism came the creation of not only “Those Nights,” but also the sub-culture that allows Ashlie Amber to make her own rules within country music.

“Country Vogue is country, but it’s also fashion,” Ashlie informed Sounds Like Nashville in her Female Friday feature. “It’s also boss women proud to be boss women and unapologetically themselves. That’s what Country Vogue represents and that’s who I represent.”

Amber’s faith in her craft is magnetic, prompting Taste of Country to assert, “If the country music community truly values authenticity, then they’ll rally behind Ashlie Amber” (Taste of Country/Billy Dukes).
