Sarantos: “Above The Clouds” is perfectly executed

I have been following Sarantos’ evolution for quite a few years now, so I know for sure he has been through a mega amount of stylistic configurations musically. I can’t even remember a genre of music he hasn’t brought to the table yet. And he has done so fearlessly and courageously, on every occasion, but always with a huge smack humility and a smile on his face. Not that he doesn’t take his music seriously; to all intents and purposes he is the most dedicated indie artist that I have been following in recent years. And that’s my point. Sarantos takes his music very seriously…not himself! Which makes him an unlikely pop star, or rather, a different kind of aspiring pop star. For him it’s all about the music, and getting it out there as far as he can, before selling his persona.

Recently he has gone back to his pop-rock roots, and frankly that’s where he has always delivered his best work. His latest release “Above The Clouds” is no exception. Not surprisingly, fans and industry insiders have voted this as one of his best songs, on various platforms, including Audiokite. On this track Sarantos is entirely in his comfort zone.

Vocally and musically the song is as smooth and catchy as it can possibly be. No frills, no fuss, this is just one enormously addictive track right from the opening bars, as Sarantos sings: “A safe spot waits for you. The secret hiding place exists. When you’ve got a touch of blue…” He is confident, eloquently colloquial and truly inspiring as he tells us about his fascination with the clouds.

“This is a peaceful pop song is about my enchantment with clouds,” says Sarantos. “I’m always staring up at the clouds. From my childhood days, I’ve been told repeatedly that my head’s up in clouds so of course, I just had to write a song about what I think lives up there. It’s almost like meditation for me and no matter how bad a day I’m having; the clouds simply soothe my soul. When I was inspired to write this song, I also realized that no matter what dreadful scenario I’m in or how bad the Chicago weather is, it’s always sunny above the clouds!”

Not only are the vocals and music spot on, but the overall production is immaculate. The organic instrumentation is perfectly executed as is the luscious backing vocals. All which match the engineering, mixing and mastering to a tee.

And it is from these details that it’s easy to gather why Sarantos remains one step ahead of his independent colleagues. Writing and performing a great song is almost always not enough to get you anywhere that matters. Much like a jigsaw puzzle you need all the other little pieces before you can present your completed picture.

And this is what Sarantos does on each and every release. From the writing to the performing, as well as the production of the music and the supporting video, to the actual marketing of his craft, Sarantos Melogia is absolutely scrupulous. I know it’s a long time coming, and it’s been a road of ups and downs, but the star status is just around one of the next few the corners!
