Pastor B – “Lord Working” is a pure anthemic banger!

Byron Sago, AKA Pastor B was raised in Natchez, Mississippi. He graduated from Natchez High School in 1993. Pastor B enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1997 where he served for over 23 years, retiring as a First Sergeant in July of 2018. Pastor B began his true walk with God in 2010. He was ordained as a Deacon at Bethesda Fellowship Ministries in Copperas Cove, Texas.  He accepted the call to preach in 2012 after a redeployment from Afghanistan and was licensed in July 2014. In 2019, he established Light Of Hope Fellowship Ministries, an interdenominational church in Harker Heights, Texas. It was founded on Discipleship and to “Take God’s Word To The Streets”.

Pastor B has been writing for years and began studio recording in 2005 with the group G Playaz who released 5 studio albums. He took an 11-year hiatus away from writing and recording, but has now bounced right back, more passionate and fired up than ever. His album “Proverbs and Pushups Vol 1” is a testimony to that statement.

On a purely stylistic level, this album combines a lot of what Pastor B excels in. It is both a very modern-sounding album, while still being entrenched in the classic genre aesthetics. It’s not without its fair share of R&B, Soul, and straight rap and hip hop, locked into a Gospel framework. You’ll hear Pastor B’s unique and smooth flows and plenty more, but you’ll also get a lot of melody and singing.

“Proverbs and Pushups Vol 1” is a big album, with a lot to dissect. It’s also an important album for Pastor B, who returns to the scene in no uncertain terms. Moreover, it’s a vital recording for those that are struggling with their faith, and for a world that’s drowning in sin and needs a Savior. In that sense, Pastor B brings it to us, on the single, “Lord Working” ft. MrGoodBarz and X Marqs The Spot.

This single is a pure banger, with a high-riding beat fueled by a groove-driven momentum. On top, Pastor B and his features bring the heat. In a sphere of thought where a singular narrative often holds precedence, the inclusion of multiple voices to tell the story of the “Lord Working”, is refreshing and adds an extra level of authenticity. With a pulsing underscore that draws a connecting cord to the performances, the artists unpack their testimonies.

The bold lyrical stance and the high-energy deliveries make for compelling music, as the track switches between straight rapping and melodic hooks. “I talk to God like I’m on the phone. If the devil calls, I tell him no,” recites the hypnotic hook in the chorus. “Lord Working” is one of the catchiest tracks on the album. From the moment it kicks off, it never lets up, creating a euphoric vibe that is hard to resist.

From Pastor B’s stream of consciousness rapping to the wildly infectious choruses, this song escalates into a full powered anthem. “Lord Working” ft. MrGoodBarz and X Marqs The Spot is the culmination of Pastor B’s unapologetic faith combined with his ambition to spread his message through his music. That combination really doesn’t get better than this.
