PAPA Sound Collaborates with Rholin X to Release Summer Hit “Selfish”

Rholin X’s journey from the sunny shores of Jamaica to the colder climes of Sweden is a tale of love and passion. Twenty years ago, after touring with dancehall legend Sean Paul, Rholin X met his partner and chose to settle in Karlstad, Sweden. Despite the challenges of establishing himself in a new country, Rholin X’s talent for freestyling—akin to greats like Jay-Z—has always shone through.

Though Rholin X has kept a low profile, collaborating occasionally with Swedish artists and producers, “Selfish” marks his powerful return to the forefront. His remarkable ability to craft spontaneous, impactful lines is a testament to his enduring talent.

PAPA Sound, the Swedish producer duo of Patrik Arve and Paolo Albo, formed in 2020, have a knack for blending genres like dancehall, afrobeat, and reggae. Their music often reflects their shared concerns about social injustice and environmental issues, as well as their deep love for music.

“Usually we are looking for the spark in the gap between different genres,” they explain. “For us, 90% of good music is all about the attitude. It’s more important than your actual skill. Hence our love for punk, hip-hop, and reggae. We are baking outernational musical biscuits full of bass and riddim. The vocals, at this point, are made by guests from Jamaica or Africa and are considered the icing on the cake.”

Patrik Arve, a key member of the award-winning group Teddybears, has collaborated with renowned artists like Beenieman, Ninjaman, Elephantman, Busy Signal, Cutty Ranks, Ward 21, Wiley, Kano, Ghetts, Iggy Pop, Eve, Robyn, and Neneh Cherry. With hits like “Cobrastyle,” featuring Mad Cobra, which boasts over 50 million streams, Arve’s influence in the music industry is well established.
