Jonezen: “Day Job” ft. Donny Beck – relevant and relatable!

Detroit-bred rapper, songwriter, guitarist and producer, Jonezen has released his summer anthem “Day Job” ft. Donny Beck. Jonezen who has toured and recorded with acts such as Swollen Members and Mixmaster Mike of The Beastie Boys, and toured with Bone Thugs N Harmony as part of the Monster Energy Get Loud Tour, came close to death and landed in rehab from an alcohol addiction.

Jonezen-coverHe has since gone on to win the Los Angeles Music Awards for Hip Hop artist and Solo Performer of the year in both 2013 and 2014, the Underground Music Awards in 2015 for # 1 Contender and is now nominated at this-years Hollywood Music and Media Awards.

“Day Job” is the first single off Jonezen’s upcoming LP Grown Ass Dreamer, which is slated to be released in 2017.  At its best, hip-hop gives listeners a thrill that can’t be reproduced by most other genres.

The average fan will have experienced a lot of the things that Jonezen and Donny Beck sing and rap about, and when the beat drops, it all becomes relevant and relatable. It’s about the feeling that’s being communicated, and rap music is transcendent in that aspect, capable of motivating and calling a response in any situation.

“Day Job” will inspire you in ways you never anticipated. It’s surprising what tales of upward mobility and an unrelenting, bouncy handclapping beat can do.

Now, listening to this song doesn’t make losing in life impossible or making money any more possible, but at the very least, Jonezen and Donny Beck deliver a firm pat on the back , letting you know they understand your boring nine-to-five grind, and that minimum wage syndrome.

They’re here to tell you that they’re not going to work today either! It’s an underdog anthem that will get you hyped up and nodding along, and you might just stoke up enough courage to give your boss the middle finger too.

“Day Job” ft. Donny Beck is about putting yourself at the center of your world. Rising above all the monotonous things you have to do to pay the bills, and going about doing the things you love doing. Jonezen pulls this one off admirably and his energy and resilient attitude is transmitted to the listener instantly, who will be ready to succeed with enthusiasm…once his finished partying to this track all summer long!
