DEMPT is an acronym for Diligence Earns More Power Trust
DEMPT (Kevin Jose) is an M.C. / Lyricist stationed out of Massachusetts. He started writing lyrics in 2007 as a College Student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. His early motivations were to give a more educated and influential sound to the hip hop scene. DEMPT is an acronym for Diligence Earns More Power Trust. Influences include 2Pac Shakur and Gangstarr.
DEMPT started recording in 2008 with a new Age 90’s hip hop sound under his first Mixtape THE DEMPT PROJECT. Following earning his Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting in 2012, he decided to dedicate his full time to hip hop. He has recorded and performed in New Bedford MA as well as areas in the Greater Orlando Florida Area.
DEMPT shows consciousness, playfulness and angst in much of his lyrical content. From songs that give confidence to the educated crowd to those who find themselves in their own closed off world, many can relate to the message from DEMPT.
DEMPT has many songs, albums and EP’s he has been releasing steadily under his entertainment company DEMPT Music since 2018. Some include the ‘Then and Now’ Album which was released during the height of the protests around the country in the summer of 2020.
It has songs such as “I Swear Im Down 2 Fight” and “Ready 2 Die 4.” Followed by that was the ‘Night Colors’ EP that included his auto-tune classic “How To Make Money” and his track “Shorty I Remember You.” With future releases from DEMPT and DEMPT Music, he hopes to capture more moments in his life and the lives of others. Most of his songs and projects do just that and in retrospect create a beautiful and at times engaging sound for the listener.
