Jessalyn Gore: “Want Me” – spot on genuine!

The 20-year-old New York City singer and CEO of VillageBeats Records, Jessalyn Gore p.k.a Jessalyn, has announced the release of her debut single “Want Me”. First impressions matter, especially on a debut single. Time-strapped listeners size up an artist within a song and then move on or delve in further. Fortunately, it only takes Jessalyn Gore about 30 seconds to convince you that you’re hearing the arrival of a fresh new talent. “Want Me”, is an invitation, a mission statement and a starkly poetic summary of the singer’s given sentimental state, all in one knockout, self-penned punch.

Easing in over a groove of a kick-drum beat, thumping bass and atmospheric keys, the song has the feel of the first line of a great novel or opening scene in a classic film. There’s an expectancy, a feeling of brewing excitement. And as the song builds, strings rising around her, Jessalyn’s voice has that alluring mix of vulnerability and resilience that was once the province of the greats.

It is a tour-de-force performance that is vivid, moving and uplifting, without being overwhelming, forceful or even loud. Jessalyn Gore is in control as she captures the feel of the song.

Jessalyn is an elite member of a new generation bringing real, simple, and melodious music back again. It’s all about the voice, the groove and the song, without too much gloss and gimmicks, which usually serves to distract from the finesse of the performance.

It’s something Jessalyn does not need, having pure, crystal clear talent that needs no covering up or smoothing around any rough angles. The vocals are spot on genuine, with her uniqueness pointing towards smooth ear-candy status.

RnB smothered in pop, or the other way around, depending on your personal taste. Either way she’s blurred the lines between the two so her sound is a melting pot of tasty urban flavors.

Jessalyn Gore certainly deserves a five star rating.  Her voice comes through loud and clear and here tones have an honesty that makes her sound real. Obviously if she keeps her work rate and creative output above the norm it will be hard to imagine that Jessalyn’s talents will go unnoticed.

The best artists can usually make you feel their emotion with them. Jessalyn Gore definitely does. “Want Me” definitely succeeds in showcasing some of Jessalyn’s prime musical attributes.
