Kyrre Bjørdal Sæther: “Lost In Love” – fresh, bold and invigorating

Kyrre Bjørdal Sæther is multi-instrumentalist from Norway. Kyrre who has studied at the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in Liverpool, United Kingdom, where he specialized as a singer and songwriter, has been writing music since his teens. He released his debut album “On My Own” in 2004, and then had a 10 year hiatus before making a comeback. Signed to independent label KBS Productions, Kyrre recently released his brand new single “Lost In Love”, a song he had written in 2016, but rearranged for the single version, giving it a fuller, edgier flavor. Though he had some help from local musicians, Kyrre played all the instruments on the track, as well as did the singing.

Kyrre is such a compelling artist because he is someone that is always growing, collaborating and expanding his musical horizons, culminating in this fantastic work of pop art.  Lost In Love” which narrates a story of a breakup through its verses, instead, uses it’s choruses to transmit a feeling of hope.

The track is a straight forward adult orientated pop song which is relatable to just about anybody. It has both a luscious and cutting edge production, with synths, pianos, as well electric and acoustic guitars dominating the music arrangement.

The key of course is Kyrre’s vocals. He has a full-range voice, which can be downright gritty as well as silky smooth. He switches from his normal singing tones to falsetto without even taking a breath, as he effortlessly moves from verse to chorus. Like any pop song worthy of the title, “Lost In Love” levers its strengths on a captivating, uplifting and memorable melody.

I was hooked the first time I listened to it, and so will you be. Rhythm is another driving force behind Kyrre Bjørdal Sæther’s music and that places rhythm as an element of continuity within his musical progression, and sets “Lost In Love” in that context.

Make no mistake: Kyrre rips the nob off the radio panel and tosses it to the floorboard with this release. He is fearless in his ambition; he’s itching for something fresh, bold and invigorating.

And he accomplishes exactly what he intended with the release of this song and stands fully empowered, with the hope that the pop crowds feel the same way. On the merits of a pop single, “Lost In Love” is a feverishly cohesive earworm ready for mainstream consumption.

Kyrre Bjørdal Sæther, who has put plenty of work into the recording and production processes of the single, “Lost In Love”,  says his aim for success is big and ambitious, but with certain reservations – “By returning to the English language, as a recording artist, my audience is suddenly, potentially a lot larger and diverse. I believe my passion, determination and academic background, Will help me reach the success I want. I am, however, very aware of the constant changes in the record industry. It has, perhaps, never been this easy to be given a proper shot at success, as today.”
